KMFDM - WWIII

"KMFDM forever sucks
Here's your voice from the underground
Get ready for another round
Nothing new it's the same old shit
If it works this good why fuck with it"

I love it! KMFDM is back, with the same ol' beats, the same ol' lyrics, the same ol' punch.

I love KMFDM for their honesty and ability to make fun of themselves. It's great. Yes, it's true; it's the same thing as always, but right now, I need something to be the same and familiar. I need to depend on a band to bring me what I am expecting, and what I have loved from them in the past.

A politically charged album, KMFDM themes this album with war, in what I interpret to be their views on the recent war in Iraq and the superpower government that is the US, using samples from Bush himself to accompany their lyrics, "You’re either with us, or you’re with the terrorists." But their attack on war doesn't end there; they bring up issues with mainstream culture, advertising, celebrities, religion, complacency…. essentially they declare "…war on the world!"

Having been somewhat originally drawn to Industrial music for its highly political lyrics and alternative commentary on the worldview, I am glad to receive a new album that brings the politics back. Not that they were completely missing, of course, but since a lot of my regular listening has included lyric-less music the past few years, damn, bring back the “fight the power” energy! And guitars! Yes, guitars!

While those expecting a new sound from KMFDM with this album will be disappointed, this album offers some great dancefloor tracks and some food for thought. Recommended to fans of harder industrial and fans of KMFDM!
