V/A - Sonic Visions

Geska Records is a label based in Quebec, Canada. They describe themselves as “the alliance of eternal music mingled with the body movements of those half-dressed souls still able to inspire the spiritual grace of great civilizations and all the sensual delight of our modernity.” They were first brought to my attention with the release of their Zombie Commandos From Hell! Sonic Assault compilation. After the success of that comp, they have come out with Sonic Visions. This is a great compilation featuring the some of best in techno-trance, IDM and ambient. Based around the theme of the Tree of Life, the album features “10 artists from around the world to represent the Spheres of Life”. It includes various samples from the movie Fight Club, that seem to connect the tracks together, giving the album a flow, and incorporating in the theme.

As for the music, awesome! We see here some great acts such as Milligramme, Mlada Fronta, Mimetic, Oil 10 and Flint Glass. I can say there isn't any track on the album I don’t like. A great mix of low-key ambient sounds and more upbeat rhythms, that allow you to sit back, relax and absorb yourself in the music, while tapping your foot along. A highly recommended compilation, and excellent if you want to check out any of the bands for the first time!
